Beautiful Andalusian Hacienda From The XVI Century To Reform
About the Property
Historic Hacienda for sale near Sevilla, Andalusia, Spain. A truly stunning property, and an amazing reform opportunity, ready for a passionate new owner. A large cataloged Hacienda from the XVI century, with extensive olive grove, 99 Km from Sevilla. The first known history of this Cortijo with olive mill dates back to the XVI century. The Monks of the Order of San Basilio settled down in this area of the Sierra Morena. They built several Monasteries, and their main activity was cultivating the land with wine, olives, and grains.” El Lagar ” is undoubtedly the oldest existing building in the town of Las Navas de la Concepción. This is an old oil, wine, and grain mill. You will still find the large jars, traditionally buried into the ground, to store the oil and wine. An original large wooden beam of 16 m long and 1.5 m in height is conserved, which forms part of the installation used to press oil and wine. It is known to be one of the largest presses in Andalusia. The remains of the old chapel dedicated to La Virgen de Belén, next to the mill, is another pearl! Until mid 20th century, the chapel was the destination of the Romeria (processions) in spring to honor of the holy Mary. The Hacienda needs a total renovation to restore its old grandeur. In its current state there is a possibility for 18 bedrooms and several common rooms. The large storerooms, mill rooms, and chapel are complete restoration projects. The land is separated into several areas. The hacienda is situated on one large plot in Las Navas the other plots are located in Constantina. In total they contain 16.266 olive trees, a private well with sufficient water, and a water deposit with a capacity of 50.000 liters, (average yearly rainfall of 700mm). There is no electricity connected yet. The olive grove has an ecological certification. The property has 2 access roads, one direct from the village Constantina, and the other one through the fields, 1.5 km from the village, Las Navas. Las Navas is a small village with 1.732 inhabitants, 28 habitants/km2. Predominant labour occupation: agriculture, pasture, olives, and livestock and hunting. Access roads are winding mountain roads in good condition. Close to large water reservoirs and nature reserves. Closest airports and general services are in Sevilla and Córdoba at 1 hour 30 minutes. It’s possible to reform the property into a B&B or Hotel. The town hall is happy to assist with any reform or extension of the property. Ideal for horse lovers, eco tourism, or a private retreat. It’s a project for someone who wants to submerge in the historic Andalusian culture. If you are thinking of selling your home, contact us for a previewing so we can list your Luxury Country Home!
