About the Property
Barberini Castle is located in the territory of the Municipality of Monte Porzio, on a hill near the bank of the Cesano River. Around the year 1000, the small village of Castelvecchio developed around this focal point. The castle is just 10 km from the sea and about a 20-minute drive from the renowned seaside resort of Senigallia. The medieval building consists of massive corner towers and masonry structures that form the outer bastions. The castle, which was elevated in the 15th and 16th centuries, has undergone modifications and restorations in later periods. The entire structure is made of stone and bricks. Through a stone passage—a reminder of the old drawbridge—you reach the main entrance portal, topped by the Barberini coat of arms. On the south side of the castle, a large gate leads through a courtyard with a central brick well to the residential area of Palazzo Barberini, built later and featuring elegantly frescoed ceilings. The entire fortress offers unique views overlooking the village and well-maintained countryside. The structure is ideal for business and private events but could also be suitable for hospitality use.
