FOR CASTLE COLLECTORS
Castle Collector Insights

A 19th-century château with a lake and heated swimming pool, set within 30 hectares of grounds in the Touraine province of France. Originally built on the ruins of a medieval mansion, the current structure was completed in 1890 under the guidance of the renowned architect Louis-Alfred Trolliet, known for his expertise in château reconstruction. The property is located in the picturesque Centre-Val de Loire region. The grand château, characterized by its long rectangular form and crowned with tall hipped roofs of slate tiles, reflects the architectural style of the Loire Valley châteaux, reminiscent of the Château de Chenonceau and the Château d'Azay-le-Rideau. Upon entering through the gate, visitors are greeted by a long central drive, symmetrically lined with topiary box shrubs. The symmetrical elevations of the château are punctuated by large small-paned windows adorned with wooden louvred shutters painted in sky blue, while gabled dormers enhance the roofline. The estate features a variety of outbuildings, including two large rectangular lodges that serve as foreparts to the château, each with a ground floor and a first floor. A third lodge, designed in an eclectic style, is situated at a right angle to one of the others. Additionally, a circular dovecote with a terracotta-tiled cone roof adds charm to the grounds. The estate is further enhanced by a private lake, complete with a small tree-dotted island, and a heated swimming pool located on the east side. Outbuildings: - Chapel - Lake - Heated swimming pool - Dovecote - Woodland - Topiary Price: €1,390,000 including fees (paid by the seller). Exclusive listing by Patrice Besse.
